Assigned Learning explained: What it is and why it matters
Understand what assigned learning is, how it's allocated, and what's expected of you
What is Assigned Learning?
Assigned Learning refers to any learning task specifically allocated to you by your organisation through Ausmed.
This learning can be tailored to:
-
Your job role
-
Your team or location
-
Your development needs.
Types of Assigned Learning
There are two types of assigned learning tasks in Ausmed:
-
Mandatory – This is training you are required to complete by a set due date. It supports compliance with your organisation's policies and regulatory requirements.
-
Optional – This is recommended learning that can help you develop professionally. It does not have a due date and is not compulsory, but it’s still valuable.
FAQs
Does assigned mean mandatory?
Not always. Assigned items can be either required or optional—check for due dates and labels to confirm.
Do I need to complete optional assigned learning?
It’s not required, but it’s encouraged. Completing optional items may support your career development and show initiative.
How learning gets assigned
Learning is typically assigned to you through:
-
Training Plans – These are sets of rules defined by your organisation that automatically assign learning to you based on your job role, team, or location. For example, all staff in the Clinical Team might be assigned annual CPR training through a training plan.
-
Manual Assignments – Managers can also assign learning directly to you based on your specific professional development needs or circumstances.
