What is Proctoring?

Proctoring is the process of supervising an exam or assessment to ensure its integrity and prevent cheating. Proctoring is used to ensure a secure and fair testing environment and protect the validity of your results.

Your Skill Track Capstone Assessment will be proctored using Synoptic , a proctoring solution that runs through a Google Chrome plugin. This system monitors your session to help maintain fairness and integrity. This plugin will:

  • Require you to have your assessment in fullscreen mode to prevent switching between applications.
  • Restrict additional browser tabs and external displays. (If you use Google applications on your computer, these will also need to be closed.)
  • Capture periodic screenshots of your screen.
  • Record and flag any violations, which may be reviewed by administrators.

What are the proctoring requirements for the Capstone Assessment?

In order to sit the Capstone Assessment you must meet and maintain the following requirements:

  • You must use Google Chrome to complete this assessment - you cannot complete it on any other browser.
  • You must have the plugin installed - please click here to get the plugin, or copy and paste the following link into your browser to install the Google Chrome plugin (Go to plugin here).
  • Ensure all other tabs, windows and Google applications are closed on your computer. You must also disconnect from any external monitors you may have connected to your computer.
  • Once you have installed the plugin, closed all other tabs/windows, and disconnected from all external monitors - return to the exam page.
    • If you are still seeing a 'proctoring not connected' message, or the ‘Start Exam’ button is disabled, please refresh this page.

If a breach is detected during your exam, you will not be able to continue with your exam until the breach is resolved. All breaches will be recorded and flagged as possible cheating, for the Ausmed team to review. Examples of breaches include:

  • Exiting fullscreen mode.
  • Opening another tab.
  • Navigating away from the exam window.
  • Using an external monitor.
  • Opening other applications.
