Why am I being asked to repeat learning I just did?
Understand why learning you just did may reappear in your Assigned Learning list—and what to do about it
Sometimes you may notice that you've been assigned learning in Ausmed that you’ve recently completed. This can be confusing, so here’s a quick guide to help you understand why this happens — and what to do next.
Why you may be asked to repeat learning
Each organisation defines its own rules for how often training must be completed—and whether previous learning counts. Even within the same organisation, different departments may follow different schedules or recognition rules.
You may be asked to repeat training if:
- You completed it outside your organisation’s accepted timeframe
- You completed it independently (self-directed), and your organisation only recognises learning they assign directly
- You completed it under a different organisation or department that follows different compliance rules
- You did not meet the organisation’s required completion standard (e.g. did not pass the assessment).
💡 Example:"I completed this course 4 months ago—why do I need to do it again?"
Some organisations only recognise prior learning completed within a specific timeframe — e.g. within 3 months of the due date. If you completed it too early, such as 4 months ago, it may not count.
What to do if you've recently completed the same learning
If you believe your previous completion should count, and you're unsure why it’s showing as required, contact your Manager.
They can:
- Explain why the training is being requested again
- Confirm whether your previous completion meets your organisation’s criteria
- Prevent unnecessary repeat training if it’s not required.
